Bobby Joe Shepard Sr.

Bobby Joe Shepard, Sr. passed away on May 8, 2016 in Conroe Texas. Bob was born in Montgomery County, Texas to Jessie A. and Bessie M. Shepard on May 25, 1935. After serving his country in the US Air Force, Bob returned to Conroe and married his childhood sweetheart Joyce Annette Shepard. He graduated from Barber College in Houston in the early 1950's and started his career at the Thomas and Hearn Barber Shop in downtown Conroe. Bob eventually purchased the business along with the historical building and became the owner and operator of Shepard's Barber Shop. He was a local barber for over 60 years and was very proud to have served many generations of Montgomery County friends and families.

As a devoted member of the Longmire Road Church of Christ, one of Bob's greatest joys was spending time each day reading his family bible.

Bob was preceded in death by his best friend and wife Joyce; his parents Jessie and Bessie; and five brothers, Jesse Earl, Henry, Cecil, David Hugh, and Charles Shepard.

He leaves behind his son Joe Shepard (Cindy); daughter Deborah Shepard McCloud; 7 grandchildren Deidrea Groce-Loring, Bradley A Shepard, Chynese Archie, Christopher M Shepard, MyCne' Groce-Macon, Clinton C Groce, and Alexander J Shepard; 13 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters Joy Jean Platte and Jan Kay Blakley; brothers Jerry, JA, and Tommy Shepard and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A very special note of thanks to his niece Daphne "Peachie" Walker and best barber buddy Leon Apostolo. Both angels on earth.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 10:00am in Cashner Colonial Chapel. Entombment will follow in Garden Park Mausoleum. You are invited to view our webpage and leave written tributes to the family at
