Lela Ethel Christian Eaves
Funeral for Lela Ethel Christian Eaves, 95, of Silsbee will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2005 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Carter and the Rev. Gene Kirkley officiating. Burial will be in Clever Creek Cemetery, Center. Eaves died Sept. 2, 2005 at Silsbee Convalescent Center. Born July 3, 1910, she was the daughter of Charlie W. and Ethel Whittlesey Christian. She graduated from Center High School in 1929 and received her bachelor and masters degrees from SFA, where she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Eaves was a retired school teacher for schools in Shelby County, Buna and Warren. She was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church in Silsbee. Survivors include her son, David Eaves of Silsbee; and sister, Bonnie Modiz of Wildwood. Memorial donations may be made to Pinecrest Baptist Church, Silsbee, or Clever Creek Baptist Church, Center. BERRY- Dorothy Edmonson, age 72, of Berry, died Jan. 10, 2011, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Bonner and Bro. Alan Magouirk officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Nelson Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Durwood Edmonson.  Survivors include her daughter, Kim West (Jason) of Northport; sons, Keith Edmonson (Carrie) and Kevin Edmonson (Wendy), both of Berry; a sister, Inez Smith of Birmingham; a brother, Joe Nelson of Berry; and four grandchildren, Kendall, Grayson, Kyla, and Walker.

Pallbearers will be Chris Nelson, Tim Nelson, Gary Smith, Mark Bowers, Kendall Edmonson, and Grayson Edmonson.

Born March 25, 1953 , in Nacogdoches , TX , he was the son of the late Billy Bertis and Shirley Ann (Vaught) Fancher. Randy was a 1971 graduate of Timpson High School and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church .

He is survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins and was preceded in death by his parents Billy and Shirley Fancher.

Lavern Fields, 81, of Center, passed away February 24, 2011 at Pine Grove Nursing Center . She was born April 18, 1929 in Center to W. E. “Jack” Clark and Gertrude Dean Clark. Mrs. Fields was the past secretary for Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and was a member of Hurst Street Church of Christ.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm , Friday, February 25, 2011 , at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm , Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Oaklawn Memorial Park with Tim Perkins officiating.

Scotty Lloyd "Scott" Fleming, II
Services for Scotty Lloyd "Scott" Fleming, II will be held at 1 pm Monday, September 19, 2005 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Carl Smith, retired Pastor First Baptist Church of Center. In honor of Scott's wishes, after the services he will be cremated with half of his cremains to be entombed in the Mausoleum at Oaklawn Memorial Park with his beloved Brother Shannon and the other half of his cremains to be scattered on Toledo Bend where he loved & fished as a young boy & man. Scott passed away on Friday, September 16, 2005 at his residence after a sudden illness. For the past year he has endeared nine operations on his leg after he shattered it in an accident in August 2004. this has been a tragic & trying year for Scott & his Mother & Grandmother who loved him & helped him through his hard times. Scott grew up in Shreveport, La. having attended Greenwood Christian where he graduated in 1984. He was well known & loved by his fellow students. He was a star basketball player & during his Senior year he received the Basketball Player of the Year Award. Also during his Senior Year he was nominated & received the coveted Patriotism Award form the Knights of Columbus for his outstanding leadership throughout his high school years. He not only played sports at Greenwood but also played in the South Shreveport Dixie League Baseball Team. As a youngster, Scott along with his Brother & Sister were well know in the Shreveport-Bossier area for their Judo skills, having completed many local, regional, state & national tournaments. Scott attended Northeast Louisiana University & was only a few hours from receiving a degree in business. After college Scott worked for many years for Cox Communication & later become a millwright. He was a Methodist. Scott was preceded in death by his beloved Brother, James Shannon Fleming in 2001. Maternal Grandfather, J.D. Bailey, Paternal Grandparents, Shine & Pat Fleming, Uncles, Glenn Bailey & Jerry Bob Bailey, and cousin, Steven Glenn Bailey.    reprinted with permission Jereldine Fry, age 71, of Bryant, Arkansas, passed away Monday, December 27, 2010, at the Saline Memorial Hospital.  She was born on February 19, 1939, to her late parents, Waymon Alexander and Vivian Gann Alexander of Shelbyville, TX.  Jereldine was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wickes, Arkansas.  In addition, she was an outstanding cook, loved gardening and was a very caring person.

She is survived by five sons:

FAYETTE Carolyn Grizzelle, age 77, of Fayette, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at the Terrace Assisted Living Facility in Jasper. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2010, at Norwood Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens with Norwood Chapel Funeral Home of Fayette directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Grizzelle and her parents, Vaudine and Banks Lowery.

Survivors include her step-daughters, Marilyn (John) Butler of Lanett; Robbie (David) Hindman, Karen (William) Thompson and Kathy Warren, all of Fayette; grandchildren, Matthew Butler and Michael Butler of Lanett; Rob (Nicole) Hindman of Northport, Zac (Keri) Hindman, Will (Amy) Thompson, Becky Thompson (Heath) Reed and Ethan Sherman, all of Fayette,
and Brad (Whitley) Burroughs of Winfield; great-grandchildren, Reece and Ella Kathryn Hindman of Northport, Cheyenne Butler of Lanett; Skyler Reed of Fayette and Peyton Burroughs of Winfield; and sister, Ann Lowery Dobbs of Haleyville.

Carolyn was born December 6, 1932, in Bankston, Alabama. She was a graduate of Berry High School. After 35 years of service, she retired from the Verizon Phone Company (Continental). She was a member of the Kennedy Eastern Star until the time of her death. Throughout her life, Carolyn loved singing and playing the piano, especially gospel music.
Her hobbies included sewing and golfing. She enjoyed spending her years of retirement with her "Bobby" prior to his death in 2008. Together,
they enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow up, working in the yard, having a good home-cooked meal and caring for their beloved dog, "Birdie."

Pallbearers will be William Thompson, David Hindman, Heath Reed, Rob Hindman, Zac Hindman, Will Thompson, Brad Burroughs and Ethan Sherman.

Clemente "Clem" Medina Gutierrez, 51, of Huxley died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, as a result of a car accident in Panola County. There are no services scheduled. A cremation is scheduled. Gutierrez was born Jan. 14, 1954 in Lytle. He was an oil field driller for Patterson UTI. Survivors include Debbie Gray of Huxley; Ellie Gutierrez of Tyler; children, Felicia Ramos of Palestine, Angie Henry of Tennessee Colony, Clemente Gutierrez Jr. of Lubbock and John Gutierrez of Tyler; two grandchildren; and step-children and step-grandchildren.

, 63, of Shelbyville, passed Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at her home. She was born February 6, 1947 in Houston to James King and Ruby Lee Mills King. Mrs. Hagler was a member of Center United Pentecostal Church. She had worked at Shelby Savings Bank since 1997.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm , Friday, October 29, 2010 at Watson and Sons Funeral Home in Center. Mr. James David “Dave” Harp III, age 69, of Locust Grove, GA passed away December 7, 2010. Dave was born in Fulton County the son of the late James David and Margaret Weise Harp Jr. Dave retired from the City of Atlanta as a policeman with 44 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and boating. Dave attended Crosspoint Community Church in Jackson. Russell Josiah "Joe" Harris was born February 17, 1935 in Ryan, OK to Russell and Una (Smith) Harris. He passed from this life Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Jefferson County Hospital in Waurika, OK at the age of seventy-four. He and Carolina Lou Kennedy were married June 17, 1955 in Waurika, OK. Joe spent his adult life working in the Natural Gas industry and retired as a measurement supervisor for Enron Corporation. He grew up in the Irving Baptist Church where he began  his many years of singing and performing in the church and with the Red River Ramblers. Wherever his job took him and his family he remained active in his local church. He was always part of the church choir, and sang with the Men's Trio and sponsored the Living Faith Singers traveling youth choir at the First Baptist Church in Laverne, Oklahoma. He also served as Training Union director and Sunday School Teacher for the First Baptist Church in Laverne. Joe was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He attended the United Methodist church in Waurika, Oklahoma in his later years.

Joe is survived by his wife Carol of the home, mother Una Harris of Ryan, OK, two daughters; Melody Stewart and Russell of Beaver, OK and Leisha Harris Justus and Michael of Woodward, OK, two brothers; Glen and Pat Harris of Wills Point, Tx and Jon Harris and Debbie Golata of Berkley, CA., granddaughter Shawna Carole Hobbs and Richard of Woodward, OK, ; Christopher Russell Harris of Woodward, OK and Ellen Aleise Harris and her son (great Grandchild) Kael Elijah Harris of Woodward, Oklahoma.  He was preceded in death by his father Russell Ernest Josiah Harris and nephew Russell Alan Harris.

A Memorial Service will be Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 2:00PM at the Irving Baptist Church in Irving with Dr. Trevor Smith and Reed Montgomery officiating underthe direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. NORTHPORT Melba Jean Holloway, age 74, of Northport, died Dec. 6, 2010, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Montgomery and Rev. Terrell Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Holloway, and her parents, Lavada and Belton Phillips.

Survivors include her daughters, Wanda Green (Norman), Rhonda Smith (Ben), and Kristi Hayworth (David); her sisters, Mabel Smith (Orman) and Linda Watkins (John); her grandchildren, Chris Green, Chad Green, Nicole Green, Chan Green, Corey Green, Lindsey Smith, Mary Catherine Smith, James David Hayworth, and Brienna Hayworth; and nine great-grandchildren. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She worked at Gulf States Paper until its closing. She then worked at Wright's Bakery until her retirement. After retirement, she enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her family.

Len B. Hughes, 68, passed away from a brain tumor on January 5th 2011 at his home in Plano, TX. Len was born on Sept. 29th 1943, in Shelby Co., TX.  He graduated from Center High School and Stephen F. Austin University and received his M.D. from UT Southwestern Medical School.  He joined the U.S. Air Force as a flight surgeon and ultimately completed anesthesiology training at the University of Washington.  He was an avid skier and camper and climbed 39 of the Colorado 14ers.

Len was preceded in death by wife Ellen Kinzie Hughes, and parents, Robert Irvin and Addie McDaniel Hughes.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ryan Hughes and Sarah Clopton, daughter, Karen Hughes, brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Barbara Hughes, brother and sister-in-law Mack and Kathie Hughes, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held for Len on Sat., Jan. 15th at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church.  Memorial gifts may be made to Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Irving, TX or to your charity of choice.
