Mrs. Stacy Dubose

Passed into Eternal Rest

Monday, August 13, 1962

Kenney, Texas

 

There was born to Mr. & Mrs. Eras Cleveland, on July 4th, 1881, in Austin County, a baby girl, who was named Stacy. She was one of four children, and grew up with her family in the Rocky Community.

 

In 1911 she was united in Holy Wedlock to Mr. Callie Dubose. Forty-six years ago, Sister Dubose confessed religion and joined the Rocky Church. Later, she placed her membership with the St. John Baptist Church of Bellville, Texas, where she remained until her passing.

 

Following a lengthy illness, death came quietly to Sister Dubose at 4:20 P. M., on Monday, August 13, 1962, at her home in Kenney, Texas.

 

She leaves to mourn her going, her husband, Mr. Callie Dubose, of Kenney, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Lola Washington, also of Kenney, Texas; one step-son, Mr. LeRoy Watkins of Lyons, Texas; five grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; four nieces; a host of other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.

 

Funeral Service: Saturday, August 18, 1962, 2:00 p.m. Jackson Chapel A.M.E., Rev. James Humphrey, Pastor

 

Pallbearers: Mr. Booker T. Washington, Mr. John Henry Washington, Mr. Matthew Washington, Mr. Ennis Stokes, Mr. LeArtis Twiggs, and Mr. J. D. Kessee.

 

Interment:  Kenney Cemetery, Kenney, Texas, Diggs Funeral Home, Directors
