Obsequies For
Rev. Charley Thomas
Rev. Charley Thomas was born in Bellville, Austin County, Texas to the late Mr. and Mrs. Allen
Thomas on September 20, 1900.
He was reared in the Piney Community where he attended school.
“BUDDY” as he was known to many, confessed religion in 1914 and a short time later he entered
into the ministry. Over the years he proved to be a devout, reverent and eminent worker in the Master’s vineyard.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Miss Elsie Keener on June 19, 1925. To this union seven
daughters and five sons were born. (One son, his mother, father, one sister and one brother all preceded him in death.)
Rev. Thomas pastured churches in Wallis, Kendleton, Bastrop, Round Top, and Fidelity which was his
last charge before he became ill. He was a faithful member of Boyd’s Chapel A.M.E. Church, Rev. Price, Pastor, until his demise.
Rev. Thomas answered the call to eternal rest on Tuesday, February 15, 1977 at 2:35 a.m. in St.
Joseph Hospital, Houston, Texas.
He leaves to mourn his demise a devoted wife, Mrs. Elise Thomas, eleven children, thirty
grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew, a host of other relatives and friends and neighbors.

Price, officiating.
