MOSS Cemetery
Robertson County TX

Located on the Henry Green Tract, Antonio Manchaca Survey about 5 - 6 miles south/southeast of Hearne. Take
Hwy 6 south out of Hearne about 5 mi. to Arrowmoon Road (FM2549). Turn left (east/northeast) and go 2 miles
to Jack Rabbit Lane. Turn right, go .9 miles to a dirt road with a long row of mailboxes on left. Turn right and go
through a gate at end of road. Drive straight ahead until you come to another gate. Park your car and climb thru
the gate. This property is owned by Kenny Luster and he has been cooperative to allow cemetery visitors. There is
another gate to your immediate left. Go through that gate and follow the path straight ahead about 100 yards to
the cemetery. There is an old barbed wire fence around the cemetery, but you can easily step over the fence.

There are 9 marked headstones, all readable, with names and dates, about 5 or 6 smooth, molded stones, with
no discernable names or dates, and 8 to 12 rough (ironstone or sandstone) rocks, unmarked but clearly intended
as grave markers. Most of the marked stones were made of concrete with one recent-looking one made of granite.
One stone had two names on it indicating two graves, and one stone had 3 names on it for 3 graves. One husband
and wife, Samuel Revis Sr. and Henrietta "Nettie" Waugh Moss, had a total of three stones, one stone each and then
one shared stone, all three in different locations. There are several graves with rocks for headstones in a corner of
the cemetery; assumption is that these were graves of slaves. Some of the headstones that are remembered from
earlier years are no longer in view (possibly due to vandalism) and many of the old sandstone markers have simply
weathered away. Cows, pigs, and whatever have torn the place up and fire ant mounds are huge. One obelisk has
been turned or shifted and several of the markers or bases of headstones are either lying down or standing on end.

Row numbers given: Row #1 near south gate; Row #7 near north gate.
