Thomson Cemetery

Location:  2.7 miles from the San Augustine County Courthouse north on Hwy 147.  Turn right on Tinsley Road.  Go 1.2 miles to the fork in the road, take the left (Tart Road) travel .3 of a mile, originally the old road went straight but is now closed, the new road turns right and is known as the Weaver Road.  Take the old road about 200 yards.  To the right among some large pecan trees, once stood the old Jesse Thomson home.  The unmarked graves are located north on a hill where the old Thomson home stood.  The graves were under a large cedar tree.

Family tradition is H. G. and Ellen Thomson were both born in Scotland.  They moved to San Augustine County about 1880 after their marriage in Scotland.  Ellen and their first born baby died about 1881 or 1882.  They were buried at the old home place of Jesse Thomson, a brother of H. G. Thomson,
