San Augustine County, Texas

The Cradle of Texas Independence

Wilson Cemetery

Printed with permission of the San Augustine Public Library Board of Directors.  Originally contributed by the late Jeffie Fitzgerald Wall, Mrs. Edna Layfield and Mrs. W. R. Noble.

Location:  5.5 miles from the San Augustine County Court House on Hwy 21.  Turn left across from the Fairway Farm gate (Ralph Layfield's drive).  Around the edge of the field and through the woods for 1 mile, there are 6 large cedar trees in this cemetery.

There is only one monument in this cemetery although 4 others are known to be buried here.  There are indications that there are more graves in this cemetery but the number is not known.
