Bessie Rae Carnahan                                                                                                                                           

Funeral services for BESSIE RAE "Aunt Bessie" CARNAHAN,107, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Ramah Baptist Church, Tenaha.  The Rev. Ernest Elliott and the Rev. William Perry officiated.  Burial followed in the Ramah Cemetery.  Aunt Bessie died March 1, 1997 at the Park Plaza Nursing Center in San Angelo.  She was born Sep. 7, 1889 in Tenaha, the daughter of Emma Humphries and George Anson Hayden.  She was preceded in death by her husband, David S. Carnahan and one daughter, Rae Carnahan; five brothers, two sisters, four nephews, and one niece and one grandnephew.  She is survived by six nieces, Mary Elizabeth Hayes of Dallas, Lucy Brim of San Angelo, Eixie DeSalvo of Harvey, La., Jen Brennon and husband Dutch of Longview, Janie Creech of Alexandria, Va., and Emily Viskozki and husband Ron of Shreveport, La.; one sister-in-law, Ala Hayden of Tenaha; nine grandnephews, seven grandnieces; numerous relatives and friends, and  special friend and roommate, Lucille Lynch.  Funeral services were under the direction of Gutierrez Funeral Chapel of San Angelo.                                        Reprinted from The Light and Champion, Tuesday March 11, 1997
