Doris
Massey Parker
passed away February 9, 2011 .
Doris was
born on February 12, 1921 in Center, Texas , the first of three children born to
Lola Ruth (Hunter) Massey and Johnnie Thomas Massey, who preceded her in death.
Growing up in Center she demonstrated her love of horses by participating in
barrel racing and being crowned Rodeo Queen. She graduated from Center High
School and attended Stephen F. Austin where she was a majorette with the
Lumberjack band. She then attended Massey Business College in Houston before
returning to Center to work at Farmers State Bank. On June 30, 1946 she married
Frank Edward Parker and they settled in Center.
Doris was
first and foremost a Christian woman who loved God, her family and her friends.
She joined the First Baptist Church at an early age, but upon marriage she
joined the Parker family at the First Methodist Church where she was active
serving on it’s Board of Trustees in various capacities and enjoyed teaching
Sunday School, directing Vacation Bible School , presided as President of the
WSCS and chaired numerous bereavement luncheons. She was a tireless volunteer
for the Center Public Schools PTA, Halloween Carnival Chairman, charter member
of Beta Sigma Phi, Center Garden Club and the Shelby County Historical Society.
Loving
wife and mother, devoted sister and daughter, the world’s greatest “Dee Dee”,
mother-in-law, loyal friend, unparalleled homemaker, Doris was all of these
things and much more to her family and friends.
She
enjoyed decorating her home, Christmas at Parker Pines, summers in Vail,
Colorado , fishing, having afternoon coffee with her friends, cooking pies and
all things beautiful. Doris was the happiest when surrounded by her family as
she always said they were her hobby.
Doris was
preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, F.E. Parker, her sister
Johnnie Ruth Massey Brown, her brother, Cecil Edgar Massey and her parents. She
is survived by her loving and grateful children, Pam Parker Wall (William) of
Denver , Colorado , Patti Parker Peterson (James) of Fort Worth and Frank E.
Parker, Jr. (Cheryl) of Dallas . She left behind seven grandchildren who will
miss “Dee Dee”, her irresistible cooking and her unconditional love. They are
William Harrison Wall III (Anna) of Denver, Colorado, Claiborn Massey Peterson
(Katie) of Dallas, Treven Parker Wall (Alison) of Baltimore, Maryland, Pamela
Peterson Lancaster (Daniel) of Fort Worth, Winter Patricia Wall of Denver,
Colorado, Frank E. Parker, III and Bolt Houston Parker of Dallas plus seven
great grandchildren Adelyn, Willow, Pax, Peter and Ian Wall, Kate and Caroline
Peterson.
The family
will receive friends Friday, February 11, 2011 from 6 to 7:30 in the evening at
Watson and Sons Funeral Home in Center. A graveside service is scheduled for 2
pm on Saturday February 12, 2011 at Oaklawn Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Joel
McMahon officiating.
Pallbearers are Tripp Wall, Treven Wall, Claiborn Peterson, Trey Parker, Bolt
Parker, Pamela Lancaster, Winter Wall, Rick Campbell and Murray Mathews.
Honorary

NORTHPORT--
Glen Edwin Phillips, age
70, of Northport, died Jan. 14, 2011, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday
at Phillips Chapel with Rev. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in
Phillips Chapel Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Mary Phillips; brothers, J.G.,
Bill, and Bob Phillips; and a sister, Ophelia Cook.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Phillips; daughters, Denestia Hamner
(Craig) and Jeaneice Berryhill (Shane); sisters, Odessa Townsend, Clara Holcombe
(Jimmy), June Rice (Aaron), Mary Joyce Verzino, Pauline Kuykendall (John), and
Edna Banks (Roy); and grandchildren, Samantha, Casey, and Brianna Berryhill and
Courtney Hamner.
He was a husband, daddy, "PaPa", brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend!

Calvin Kuykendall, Damon Townsend, Roger Lindsey, Jack Trimm, Rod Parker, and Ed

Mrs. Jewel Fay (Jones)
Ramsey
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Jewel Fay Jones
Ramsey passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2005. Fay was the 7th of 8 children
born to Robert and Hannah Elizabeth (Carmichael) Jones in Clayton, Texas, on
Easter Sunday, April 8, 1917. She attended public school in Clayton and
graduated from high school in Carthage, Texas. Fay was active in the Baptist
church in Clayton, where she led singing and taught Sunday school. She left the
family farm and attended Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College, where she
earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Fay's first teaching
position was at Silas Elementary School, a two-room school near Timpson. There
she met and fell in love with the most handsome man she said she had ever seen,
Hershell Ramsey. Fay and Hershell were married on December 20, 1941, at the
Methodist Parsonage in Timpson by Reverend Tunnell. Fay taught in Silas from
1939 to 1942 and Hershell taught there from 1940 until his induction into the
U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942. Being newlyweds, Fay followed Hershell to several
U.S. military bases before he was sent to Hennings Air Force Base near London,
England. While Hershell was in England, Danny Jean, their only daughter was
born. Fay resumed her teaching career as a first grade teacher in Apple Springs
following WWII. The Ramsey's moved to Garrison in 1949 where Hershell served as
Superintendent and High School Principal and Fay taught first grade in the
Timpson and Garrison school systems until their retirement in 1984. Fay taught
many, many young people; she was an excellent teacher, loved by her students and
respected by other teachers. She worked in many school events and activities.
Fay loved the Garrison Methodist Church where she served in many capacities. She
taught Sunday school, directed vacation Bible school, and served on many church
committees. Fay was a supportive and hard-working companion to Hershell's
ministry in the Methodist Church. His pastorate at Joaquin United Methodist
Church was celebrated by the construction of the Hershell and Fay Ramsey
Fellowship Hall, which continues to serve the people of that congregation. Each
year, Joaquin Methodist Church celebrates Hershell and Fay Ramsey Day. Kind and
loving, Fay lived her life exemplifying her Christian beliefs. She was
thoughtful of others, always wanting to help and support family, friends, and
neighbors. She adored her husband, daughter, and grandson. There was nothing too
difficult for her to do for them and for other family members. She enjoyed
growing flowers, playing 42 with friends, and visiting with her family members.
She loved the people in Garrison and especially the members of her Sunday school
class. Fay was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, a proud
great-grandmother, a caring daughter and sister, and delightful aunt. Fay was
predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Hershell Ramsey. She is survived
by her loving daughter, Danny, her husband, Jim Robinson, and her beloved
grandson, Brad Ballard, wife Kristy and great grandchildren, Braden Alan and
Brynn Ramsey Ballard. Fay is also survived by her sister, Ebbie Saunders, her
sister-in-law, Marcelle Cobb and many, many loving nieces and nephews. Her
brothers Roy, Erus, Bennie, and Buford and sisters Lila Mae and Vera preceded
her in death. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew
her. Funeral services will be held on at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 4th at the
First United Methodist Church of Garrison with interment following at the
Shady
Grove Cemetery located in Shelby County. Reverend Danhurst will officiate with
music rendered by the First United Methodist Church Choir. The family will
received friends on Saturday evening at the Garrison Funeral Home for a time of
visitation. Garrison Funeral Home, Garrison, Texas is in charge of arrangements.

Hobson Ray
Samantha Hobson Ray, age 78, of Samantha, died March 22, 2011, at home.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Arbor Springs Baptist Church with Rev.
Ted Sessom and Rev. Max Stripling officiating. Burial will follow in the
church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. The
body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Ola Ray; his daughters, Sherrie Hudson
(Ross); his two sons, Glenn Ray (Penny) and Randall Ray (Kristy); his
grandchildren, Ashley Taylor (Matthew), Justin Ray (Kati Chastine),
Brady and Blaine Hudson, and Kolton and Keelyn Ray; one
great-grandchild, Aubrey Taylor; and a special niece, Frances Willingham.
Pallbearers will be Justin Ray, Matthew Taylor, Kenny Smith, Dwight
Beams, J.D. Overton, Lynn Watkins, and Larry Leonard.

Arbor Springs Baptist Church. New Hope Baptist Church, Lakewood Baptist
Church, and Church at Tuscaloosa; former and current friends at Warren
Tire; and his caregivers, Juanita Lee, Kim Lapsley, Jamie Robertson, and
Teresa Ivory.
Our loving father, husband, and PawPaw now walks with his heavenly
Father. Our memories of such a strong, humble, and sweetly spirited man
we will have in our hearts forever. He always looked at the good in
everyone and always spoke a kind, encouraging word. He loved the Lord,
his family, and his church with all his heart.

Glenn Robinson,
52, was born on January 26, 1958 to
Lynn and JoAnn Robinson. He passed
away peacefully at home surrounded
by family and went to be with our
Lord on August 18, 2010. He worked
for 13 years at Grumann and for the
past 12 years was employed by Port
City Cabinet Works as a machinist.
He was an avid fisherman. He loved
bowling and gardening.
He is
preceded in death by his mother,
JoAnn.
He is
survived by his loving wife, Diane;
son, William; son’s mother, Mary;
and step-daughters, Jessica and
Ashley. Nathan is also survived by
his father, Lynn, step-mother, Dee;
