In the mid 1990's 32 boxes containing over 1000 folders of succession,
tutorship, conveyance, civil court, and many other records were donated to the
Noel Memorial Library Archives to be restored, microfilmed, and preserved. These
now comprise 16 rolls of microfilm, thanks to the
efforts of volunteers from the "Friends of Genealogy, Inc.", and are available
at the Noel, and
Shreve Memorial libraries. Follow the links below for annotations and indices.
**Please note: This collection does not represent all extant DeSoto parish
records from the 1843-1911 time frame. Obviously, many succession and tutorship
records are missing from that time frame for surnames beginning with A-Fa. This
should not be taken to mean those records are not still around - the sponsor of
this page has obtained directly from the parish 19th century succession and
tutorship records that are not included in this collection. The researcher is
strongly advised to pursue that and other sources for records not found
elsewhere.
