MARVIN DIERKING

Funeral services for Marvin "M.H." Dierking of Bleiblerville, Texas were held on Sunday, July 6, 2003 at 2 p.m from Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Welcome. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

His grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were his granddaughters and great grandchildren.

Mr. Dierking was born October 9, 1912 in Sandy Hill, Texas to Fritz and Bertha Heckmann Dierking. He was baptized into the Christian faith at St. Matthews Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill on December 22, 1912 and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem on April 1, 1928.

On November 17, 1938, Mr. Dierking married Esther Wensel in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Welcome. The Lord blessed this union with one son and four daughters.

Mr. Dierking was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Welcome where he served on the church council and as an usher. He served as a member of the school board of the Welcome Elementary School in Austin County, board of directors of the Federal Land Bank in Austin County, a director of the Austin County Farm Bureau, and an adult leader of the Boys 4-H Club of Welcome.

Mr. Dierking, a dedicated farmer and rancher, was recognized on a number of occasions for his improvements of the land and the crops and cattle that he raised, including Outstanding Soil Conservationist in 1952, by the Austin Washington District; Outstanding Farmer by Industry/West End Lions Club in 1980, and Outstanding Rancher-Farmer by the Austin County Soil and Water Conservation District in 1994. He continued to take care of his land and cattle until several months ago.

Marvin "M.H." Dierking of Bleiblerville, Texas passed away July 3, 2003 at the age of 90 years.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Marilyn Dierking of Bleiblerville, daughter and son-in-law Erline and Tim Ferguson of Angleton, daughter Dorothy Dierking of Brenham, sons-in-law Thomas Richter of Industry and Rodney Roeske of Brenham, sister Lille Mikeska of Brenham sister and brother-in-law Myrtle and George Wilms of Houston, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Tekla and Martin Wiesepape, Sr. and sister-in-law Alma Wensel of Brenham, grandchildren Todd and Janie Dierking, Rhonda and Kevin Hutcherson, Marguita and Alan Stovall, Ryan and Genna Roeske, Trent Dierking, Tawn Dierking, Steven and Lisa Ferguson and 10 great grandchildren.

Mr. Dierking was preceded in death by his wife, Esther in September 1985, daughters Faye Roeske in February 2002 and Margaret Richter in April 2003, his parents, sister and brother-in-law Helen and Waco Dernehl, brothers-in-law Edmund Mikeska and Reuben Wensel and two brothers that died in infancy.

Memorial may be given to the Welcome Lutheran Church on a charity of your choice.

Funeral services were in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel in Brenham, Texas.
