RUBY (JURRIES) FORDTRAN

Funeral services for Ruby Jurries Fordtran were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at the Industry United Methodist Church with Reverend Patricia Newcomer officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville.

Pallbearers were Dr. Winston Neely, Johnny Spiess, John Spiess, Mark Wittner, Dr. R.A. Neely and Gayle Krebs.

She was born April 11, 1914 in Brenham, Texas the daughter of August and Mary Kramer Jurries. She grew up in the Wesley and Bleiblerville areas where she attended the Klump School.

Ruby was united in marriage with Lonnie Stein who preceded her in death in August 1940. On January 26, 1944 she was united in marriage with Charles (Dutch) Fordtran in Industry. They made their home in Industry where they were members of the United Methodist Church. Dutch preceded Ruby in death on December 24, 1973. Ruby remained in Industry until December 1996 when she made her home with her daughter. Since Oct. 2000 because of her health, she has been a resident of the Sugar Land Health Center. Ruby enjoyed working with the children in 4-H and was active in the P.T.A. during her younger years.

Ruby Jurries Fordtran passed away Saturday July 19, 2003 in a Houston hospital at the age of 89.

Ruby is survived by her daughter Delois Easterling and her husband John of San Marcos, grandchildren Kevin Easterling and Julie Easterling, also of San Marcos, sisters-in-law Mary Fordtran of Corpus Christi and O'Reed Lange of Bellville, cousins Archie and Juanita Jurries of Houston and Leroy and Bonnie Jurries of Bremond and Rosalie Moehring of the Wesley-Greenvine area as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother August Jurries, Jr., sister-in-law Inez Jurries, nephews Wayne, Gene and Jimmy Jurries and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in the Fordtran family.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, Bellville, Texas.
