Funeral services for Edna Mikeska were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25,
2003 at Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville with Reverend Michael
Groseclose officiating. Burial followed in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Bartay, David Bartay, Robert Bartay, Jerry Krumrey,
Donald Young, Gene Cooper, Mark Mikeska and Todd Morris.
She was born December 30, 1907 in Bellville, Texas the daughter of Leo and
Mathilde Schiller Klump. She grew up and attended school in Oak Hill.
On November 26, 1930 she married Jerry J. Mikeska. They made their home in
Bellville where they lived and worked on their farm and were members of
the Nelsonville Brethren Church.
Jerry preceded Edna in death after 62 years of marriage.
A loving wife and mother, Edna was an excellent cook. She enjoyed
quilting and sewing, playing dominoes and watching sports on TV. She was a member
of the S.P.J.S.T. and the Christian Sisters.
Edna Elsie Klump Mikeska passed away Thursday, May 22, 2003 in a
Bellville nursing facility at the age of 95.
She is survived by her children Valeria Bartay, Vernice Krumrey and Olvin
J. Mikeska, all of Bellville, 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2
great great grandchildren and numerous other friends and relatives.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Ada Hohlt
granddaughter Nancy Bartay and two sons-in-law Vernon Bartay and Ralston
Krumrey.
In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts
to the Nelsonville Brethren Church, the American Cancer Society or to the
charity of their choice.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schmidt Funeral
Home, Bellville, Texas.
