FLORENCE (FOJTIK) SLIVA

Funeral services for Florence Sliva, of Wallis, Texas were held Thursday,Nov. 20, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. from Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis with Rev. Richard Johnston, S.C.J. celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal. Interment was at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Wallis.
Serving as pallbearers were Marvin Polasek, Marvin Fojtik, David Dolejsi, James Nicholson, Kelley Schrock and John Glueck.

Honorary pallbearers were Edmund Jurek and Leslie Jez.

Born in Fort Bend County, Texas Florence was the daughter of Joe and Laura (Eckerman) Fojtik. She was raised in Central and attended Central School. On Nov. 6, 1934 the former Miss Florence Fojtik was joined in marriage to Mr. Willie B. Sliva with a ceremony held at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis. She was a life long member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church, a member of KJZT, a member of Guardian Angel Altar Society, a member and past
Chaplin of the Wallis American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Wallis Domino Club. She was affectionately called "Gingy" by all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Florence Sliva passed away after a short illness on Monday, Nov. 17, 2003 at her home in Wallis surrounded by her three loving and devoted daughters.

She is survived by her daughters Evelyn Wilke and husband Erwin of Wallis, Jeanette Zajicek and husband Albert of Wallis and Helen Sliva of Wallis; sisters-in-law Dorothy Fojtik of Galveson and Tillie Brast and husband Marcus of Wallis; grandchildren Debbie McCain, Donna Schrock and husband Kelley, Lisa Nicholson and husband James, Diane Glueck and husband Johnny and David Dolejsi and wife Sherry; great grandchildren Shanna and Nikkie Schrock, Brooke and Billy Nicholson, Hunter and Kendall Glueck and Trevor Dolejsi and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Florence is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Laura Fojtik; husband Willie B. Sliva; sister Josephine Schiller and brother John Fojtik.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wallis Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.Box 280, Wallis, Texas 77485.
