Funeral service was held for Wayne Howell on Jan. 2, 2004 at 11 a.m. with a graveside service at 3 p.m. in Richland, Texas.

Pallbearers were his grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers were Joseph Kirk, Paul Shinsky and James Ward.

He was born in Corsicana, Texas on Oct. 18, 1928. Wayne graduated from Mildred High School in 1946, Navarro Jr. College in 1950 and then completed his Bachelor of Science in chemistry at North Texas in 1953. Wayne was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy, Fire Control on Fall Rivers and Iowa Battleships.

Thanks to the inspiration of Professor James Edgar, Wayne excelled as a chemist and worked for Celanese in Pampa, National Chemsearch, Sargent Welch and Research Products in Irving and Allstates Chemical Company in Brookshire. He retired from Sunbelt Labs in Houston in 1999. Wayne Howell passed away on Jan. 1, 2004 in Huntsville, Texas.  

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary. He is also survived by his nine children, Bruce (Mary) Howell of Cypress, Texas, Rita (Danny) Cole of Springdale, AR, Brad Howell of Angleton, Texas, Reese Howell of Greeport, Texas, Julie (James) Mulcare of Kinnelton, NJ, Joan (Robert) Walker of Rogers, AR, Dan (Sherri) Howell of South Lake, Texas, Kay (William) Schroeder of Corpus Christi, Texas and Mike (Donna) Howell of Huntsville, Texas. Wayne has 19 grandchildren Laura, Mark and Donald Wayne Howell, Glendon Wayne and Brent Cole, Lacey and Shad Howell, Thomas and David Wayne Mulcare, Jill Walker, Andrea Chase and Travis Howell, Scott Schroeder and Christine Fuentes, Danielle, Damian, Mikel D'Wayne and Matthew Howell and four great grandchildren Lucas Howell, Mallory Cole, Alex and Nicole Fuentes. He is also survived by his sister Yvonne Rolfing of Springtown, Texas and three brothers Samuel Howell of Blooming Grove, Texas, Bill Howell of Cedar Hill, Texas and Gary Howell of Red Oak, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Jewel Howell; his two brothers Royce and Larry Howell and great grandchild Landon Howell.  

Funeral services were entrusted to Hutsville Funeral Home, Inc. in Huntsville, Texas.
