HERMAN ALBERT LEHMANN
Bellville Times
Herman Albert Lehmann was born January 29, 1921 in Muellersville, the son of
Herman August and Meta Schawe Lehmann. He was baptized and confirmed at the
Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, and grew up in Muellersville and attended
the Wesley School.
Herman served his country during World War II in the United States Army in
the Airborne Engineers participating in the D-Day landing in Normandy.
On March 19, 1949, he was united in marriage with Bessie Mae Sebesta at the
Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Herman and Bessie made their home in
Bellville and were active members of the Nelsonville Brethren Church. Herman
worked for the Southern Pacific and Santa Fe Railroad retiring in 1985 after
36 years of service. A former church elder, Herman enjoyed working outdoors
and helping out at the farm.
He passed away Friday, June 25, 2004 in Bellville at the age of 83.
He is survived by his Wife of over 55 years, Bessie mae Lehmann of
Bellville; son, Kenneth Wayne lehmann and his wife, Betty, of Brenham;
sister, Vernita Dora Lehmann, Also of Brenham; brother-in-law and
sister-in-law, Ben and Lois Sebesta of Bellville; special niece, Karen
Sebesta and her husband, David of Bellville; and numerous other nieces,
nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Helen Louise Lehmann,
and sisters, Meta Mary Lehmann and Irene Johanna Lehmann.
Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2004 at the Nelsonville
Brethren Church with the Rev. Michael Groseclose officiating. Interment
followed in the National Cemetery in Nelsonville. Pallbearers were David
Sebesta, Warren Klump, Luther Hueske, Robert Lehmann, Alton Urbanovsky and
Ernest Urbanovsky. Honoray pallbearers were Benard Dannhaus, Waldo Dannhaus,
Lonnie Nordt, Alvin Lehmann and Eugene Urbanovsky.
In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to
the Nelsonville Brethren Church, 902 Church Rd., Bellville, Texas 77418.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home,
Bellville.
