BERNICE RUTH HUESKE MAREK
Bellville Times
Our mother, Bernice Ruth Hueske Marek, passed away peacefully in her home of
47 years in the early morning hours of October 23, 2004.
She was born in Brenham, on August 1, 1929 to Fred and Rosena Lehrmann
Hueske. She was baptized into the Christian faith. She attended schools in
Brenham and Bellville.
She married Clarence ³Bobby² Marek on October 16, 1949 in Bellville. She and
her husband Bobby made their home in rural Austin County near Industry after
a few years.
She is survived by her sons Bobby, Dennis and James; daughters-in-law Mary,
Rebecca and Karen; grandchildren Daniel, Matthew, Andrew, Marissa, Sarah,
Meredith, Casey and Alex; sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Billy Steck;
sister- and brother-in-law Shirley and Bobby Plemmons; brother- and
sister-in-law Jay Lee and Beverly Marek; and sister-in-law, Mary Hueske.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby; her parents; her brother,
Eugene ³Chubby² Hueske; her mother- and father-in-law, Henry and Vida Rinn
Marek.
She and Bobby experienced the joys and challenges of rural life for nearly
their entire marriage. She worked side by side with her husband and they
were blessed with three sons who knew the joys of their wonderful home.
When Bernice was stricken with a disabling stroke seven years ago, she
worked long and hard to rehabilitate and maintained her independence on a
working farm against great odds. It was a great blow to her that she could
not continue to crochet tablecloths and Christmas Angels that many of her
friends and relatives still have.
A memorial devotional was held at Zaskoda Chapel in Industry on Sunday,
October 24th and the funeral was held at Welcome Salem Lutheran Church at 10
a.m. on Monday, October 25, 2004. Her pastor, Jason Korthauer, led the
service and Dr. Greg Buenger gave the eulogy.
The family requests that any memorials be given to Child Protective Services
of Austin County, The American Heart Association or the youth group at
Welcome Salem Lutheran Church.
