Funeral services for Amy Rose Mikeska, 79, of Bellville, were held Friday,
August 27, 2004, at 11 a.m. from St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville with
the Rev. Jennie Jones and the Rev. David Henske officiating. Interment was
at National Cemetery near Nelsonville. Serving as pallbearers for the
service were Jim O'Jibway, Harold Mueller, Steven Jackson, Charles Crawford,
Larry Remmert, Herbert Schumann, A.C. Pacher and Ernie Koy, Jr. Serving as
honorary pallbearers were Men's Choir, Kirby Klump, Sr. and Max Nehrkorn.
She was born Rose Amy Grubb on October 18, 1924 in Fairmont, Nebraska, to
the late Ralph C. and Nellie C. Grubb. After growing up in Wilbur, Nebraska,
she attended the University of Nebraska.
She married Calvin J. Mikeska in Salina, Kansas on April 22, 1944. Amy was a
mother and homemaker. She taught in Saline County, Nebraska, and worked as
an office manager for Arning Well Service in Bellville. She taught piano and
organ to a generation of Bellville children.
Amy was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. She also was an
active member of St. John Lutheran Church as a member of Ruth Circle, Choir
Director, Sunday School and Bible School teacher, Bible School
Superintendent, Christmas Program Director, and Pianist. A resident of
Bellville since 1944, she had lived in Wimberly for the past five months.
Rose Amy Mikeska died Monday, August 23, 2004, at Seton Medical Center in
Austin.
Survivors include her sons, Ron and his wife Bambi of Charlotte, North
Carolina, Don and his wife Priscilla of Georgetown; daughter, Jenelle Flocke
and her husband Bob of Wimberley; and four grandchildren, Kathy Flocke of
New Braunfels, and Jennison, Bradlee and Rylan Mikeska, all of Charlotte,
North Carolina. 
She is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Mikeska; her brother,
William Henry Grubb; and granddaughter, Theresa Lynne Flocke.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. John
Lutheran Church Trust Fund, 520 N. Holland, Bellville, TX 77418; Bellville
General Hospital, P.O. Box 977, Bellville, TX 77418; or American Cancer
Society, P.O. Box 501, Bellville, TX 77418.
Funeral services under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapels,
Bellville.
