Funeral services for Arthur Sebesta, 90, of Oak Hill, were held Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. from Nelsonville Brethern Church in Nelsonville with the Rev. Mike Groseclose officiating. Interment was at National Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Leon Sebesta, Lawrence Mikeska, John Hribek, Keith Vineyard, Frank Sebesta and Norman Hirsch. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Peschel and Larry Mikeska.

Mr. Sebesta was born in Oak Hill to Frank and Albina T (Janecek) Sebesta. He was raised in the Oak Hill community in Austin County where he attended school.

Arthur Sebesta married Felsie Lexie Hribek in the Smithville Brethren Church on Nov. 12, 1949.

He loved playing baseball and played for the Oak Hill team as a pitcher. He also enjoyed music and played his guitar and harmonica at dances. As a boy he worked hard on the farm and continued that as his livelihood the rest of his life.

He was a faithful member of Nelsonville Brethren Church, all of his life. For many years he taught Sunday school and served on the board of elders. He loved singing in the choirs at church, in the Bellville Easter Cantata and with his family. He was a member of SPJST and Mutual Aid.

Arthur Sebesta passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004 in Round Rock.

He is survived by his wife Felsie Sebesta of Round Rock; daughters Charleen Skelton and husband Mike of Austin and Betsy Choate and husband Duane of The Woodlands; son David Sebesta and wife Karen of Bellville; sister Ethel Mikeska and husband Nelson of Shelby; two sisters-in-law, Elvis Sebesta and Mary Hofferek; grandchildren Christina Skelton, Sarah Choate, Mark Choate, Mathew Choate, Rikki Sebesta and Lance Sebesta and a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Frank, Jerry, and Edmund Sebesta.

Memorial contributions may be made to Nelsonville Brethren Church, 332 Nelsonville Church Road, Bellville, Texas 77418.

Funeral services under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapels in Bellville.
