Funeral services for Sandra Waltrip, 61, of Houston and Bleiblerville, were
held Friday, October 1, 2004 at 1 p.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in
Bellville with the Rev. Michael Groseclose officiating. Interment was at
National Cemetery in Nelsonville.
Pallbearers serving were Jeff Long, Kenny Mallett, Jeff Crawford, Jason
Perry, James Wood, Darin McConnell, Troy Goodrich, and Jason Goodrich.
Honorary pallbearers were the Bleiblerville Volunteer Fire Department.
Born in Houston, Sandra was the daughter of Earl G. and Mildred Louise
Parker Perry. Sandra was raised in Houston and graduated from Reagan High
School where she was a Bugle Lieutenant of Company B for the Red Coats Drill
Team, Parliamentarian of FHA, member of Tri-Hi-Y, office assistant and
library assistant.
The former Miss Sandra Perry married Jim Waltrip November 20, 1965 with
ceremony held in Houston. Her first job was for the phone company, and then
she went to work for LaBlanc Par as a secretary. She was there several years
until Jim went to California. When they came back to Houston, it was time to
start a family. Sandra was a stay at home Mom until the boys got older.
Then she went for a new job, one she was made for. She was president of the
Heights Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She was the most loved volunteer
at Heights Hospital. She took a small organization and turned it around to
where it at last made a profit. In the end she worked for Jim. Sandra loved
doing things for others and if you needed something, she was there.
Sandra Waltrip died September 28, 2004 in Houston.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jim Waltrip of Houston; her
sons, Dr. Todd Waltrip and wife Dr. Alex of Longview, Scott and Leslie
Waltrip of Houston; brothers, Dean Long of Alvin, Rocky Perry of Houston,
Kent Perry of New Braunfels; and grandchild, Will Sterrett Waltrip of
Longview.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl G. and Mildred Louise Perry.
Memorial contributions may be made to Houston Hospice, 5026 West FM 1960,
Houston, Texas 77069.

Bellville.
