Bellville Times

Graveside services were conducted April 25th for Henrietta Koepke Bartay at
Pilgrims Rest Cemetery witht he Pastor David Henske officiating.
She died Sunday, April 23, 2006 in Brenham, having just celebrated her 99th
birthday.
Henrietta  was born April 16, 1907 in Bellville, the daughter of Henry and
Mata Dernehel Koepke. She grew up in the Peters area in Austin County and
attended the Bellville public schools.
On March 25, 1923 she was baptized and confirmed by the Rev. J.K. Pock at
St. John Lutheran Church.
Henrietta was united in marriage with Gilbert Bartay on February 6, 1937.
Henrietta and Gilbert made their home in Bellville where they were members
of St. John Lutheran Church. Gilbert preceded Henrietta in death on February
22, 1989.
A homemaker, Henrietta enjoyed crochet and working her yard.
She is survived by her nephew: Leroy Herring of Bryan; great niece: Beverly
Krueger and her husband, Cecil, of College Station; and many friends and
other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her son: Donald L.
Bartay (1998); two sisters; and one brother.
Arrangements were by the Schmidt Funeral Home.
