LILLIE LEPS FRANKE

 Funeral services for Lillie Franke, 92, of Industry, were held at 10 a.m.,
Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Salem Lutheran Church at Welcome with Pastor
Jason Korthauer officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Visitation began after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Zaskoda Chapel in Industry.
Lillie Carline Franke was born Oct. 13, 1913, in the Scranton Grove
Community of Austin County, the daughter of Gottlieb and Minnie (Brau) Leps.
She was baptized March 22, 1914, at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville by
Pastor Hans Krause and confirmed March 29, 1931 at Salem Lutheran Church at
Welcome by Pastor J. Apple.
She attended school in the Scranton Grove Community near Nelsonville and
married Helmuth Sam Franke on Aug. 7, 1946, in Brenham by Pastor Theo R.
Strong.
A lifetime resident of the Industry area, she was a member of Salem Lutheran
Church at Welcome and a longtime member of the Austin County Farm Bureau.
She enjoyed sewing, baking and gardening and loved spending time with her
family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Franke passed away Sunday, April 16, 2006, in a Bellville nursing home
at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 4 days. She is preceded in death by her
parents, Gottlieb and Minnie (Brau) Leps; husband, Helmuth Sam Franke;
daughter, Joyce Faye Laake; brother, Herman Leps.
Survivors include: son-in-law, Dan Laake of Katy; grandson, Brian Laake and
wife Renee of Bellville; granddaughter, Vicki Laake of Boston, Mass.; great
grandchildren  Andi Wood, Harli Laake, Billan Laake, all of Bellville;
brothers, Gottlieb Leps of Elgin andAlbert Leps of Houston; half-brother,
Charlie Koeckler of Cypress; sister, Alma Knippestein of Houston; several
nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers: Dan J. Laake, Melvin Laake, Daryl Laake, Julian Clepper II,
Julian Clepper III, Richard Kuenseler.
Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome.
