Bellville Times

Funeral services for Leroy Hurta, 77, of Bellville, were held Monday,
December 18, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. form Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in
Bellville with Rev. Robert Stutes officiating. Interment was in Oak Knoll
Cemetery in Bellville. Serving as pallbearers were Neal Wendele, Ross
Wendele, Mike Chandler, Luke Hurta, Marcus Hurta and Emil Plasek.
Born in Shiner, Texas, Leroy was the son of Rudy T. and Olga (Kostohryz)
Hurta. Leroy's father came to Bellville from Shiner to open Hurta Drug Store
when Leroy was about 5 years old. He graduated from Bellville High School in
1946 and The University of Texas School of Pharmacy in 1950. On July 30,
1950 Leroy was joined in marriage to the former Miss Jerrilene Dickney with
a ceremony held at Bellville United Methodist Church. He proudly served his
country during the Korean War in the United States Army. Leroy worked with
his father at his drug store and later he became the owner. He was a member
of Bellville United Methodist Church, V.F.W., and Chamber of Commerce where
he was a Past President. Leroy Hurta died Saturday, December 16, 2006, in
Bellville.
Survived by his wife, Jerrilene Hurta of Bellville, Daughter, Susan Chandler
and Mike of Harker Heights, Texas, son Roy Hurta and wife Susan of
Bellville, Texas, grandchildren Neal Wendele and wife Natalie, Ross Wendele,
Luke Hurta, Marcus Hurta, and Molly Chandler. Great Granddaughters Audrey
Grace and Kristen Joyce Wendele.
Preceeded in death by his parents, Rudy and Olga Hurta.
