THOMAS M. KAMAS
Bellville Times
 
Thomas M. (Tommy) Kamas died on Nov. 16, 2006, after a short but valiant
struggle with cancer.
Tommy was 82 years old and was born on May 9, 1924 in Nelsonville.
He graduated from Bellville High School in 1941 and was a proud member of
the class of ı45 at Texas A&M, though he graduated in 1947.
Also in 1947, Tommy married Betty Witte in Bellville.
He was a WW II veteran and co-pilot of a B-24 bomber with the 15th Army Air
Corps in Sicily, Italy and was an active VFW member in Bellville.
Tommy attended St. Christopherıs Episcopal Church in Houston.
A loving father of three and devoted husband of 51 years, Tommy loved life
and those around him loved Tommy.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Witte Kamas; father, Thomas M.
Kamas; mother, Anna Ripple Kamas; brothers, Daniel C. Kamas and Jimmy B.
Kamas; and niece, Tanya C. Kamas.
Tommy is survived by his daughters, Carol Mann and Susan Vonderheid and his
son, Jim Kamas; his grandchildren, Michelle Mann, Michael Mann, Nicolas
Kamas, Rebecca Kamas, Brooke Vonderheid, Austin Vonderheid, Nicole
Vonderheid, Kellie Shaw and great-grandson, Grayson Shaw. Other loving
friends and family members include: Kay Kamas and family, Theresa Kamas
McLean & family, Carmen Kamas Wieting and family, Daniel S. Kamas, Janice
Woods, Bobby Mann, and Loris Briles and family.
Pallbearers include:  Joe Derritt, Daniel Merz, David Uckert, Daniel Kamas,
Michael Mann, and Nicolas Kamas.  Honorary pallbearers include:  Elgin
Shupak, Milton Machemehl, Billy Jackson, Dusty Turner, Bobby Mann, and
Austin Vonderheid.
Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 19, at Knesek Funeral Home, 842 E. Main, in
Bellville from 4-6 p.m.  Funeral services was at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2,
at St. Maryıs Episcopal Church in Bellville.  In lieu of flowers,
contributions can be made to Childrenıs Cancer Hospital Fund, M.D. Anderson
Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas  77210.
