**JUDITH SOPHIA BUZEK KOVAR**
Bellville Times Services for Judith Sophia Buzek Kovar, 82, of Sealy, were conducted Tuesday, March 28th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy with the Rev. Paul McCallum celebrating a Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal. Mrs. Kovar died Friday, March 24, 2006 in Sealy. Interment was at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Gordon Kovar, Tim Kovar, jeff Kovar, Mike Kovar and Chuck Rapsilver. Judith Sophia Buzek Kovar was born on August 4, 1923 in Ellinger. She was raised in Wharton where she met her future husband, Pete Kovar, Sr., in 1940. Pete joined the U.S. Army in November, 1942. Before he left to fight in WWII he asked Judy to marry him. While he was gone, Judy volunteered with the U.S. Air Force. The Ellington Air Force Base assigned her the job of observer in Magnet, Texas and with field glasses in hand she watched the skies to make sure no enemy planes flew over American soil. After the war, Pete and Judy were reunited and married on January 7, 1946. They settled in Sealy to raise their children. The family shared a love of music and they formed a family polka band called The Sealy Playboys. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Pete Kovar, Sr. of Sealy; sister Leona Tobias of Ellinger; sons -- Pete Jr. and wife Joyce, of Sealy; Joe and wife Wanda of Sealy; grandchildren -- Tim and wife Ginger; Jeff and wife Kerry; Matthew and wife Stephanie; Michelle Rapsilver and husband, Chuck; Mike and wife Angela; and Annie; great-grandchildren -- Garrett, Nickolsas Rapsilver, Elizabeth, Thomas, Andrew, Luke, Chella and Christopher Rapsilver. Preceded in death by her parents -- Joe and Cecilia Buzek; two brothers; and grandson, Brian Kovar. Judith's joy of music has carried on to each generation of her family. She was a constant presence in her family's lives whether it was supporting them in band, dance or sports and above all baseball. Her love for this particular game had taken hold in her teenage years, when she played second base for a girl's softball team. Her love extended to fishing, gardening and especially animals. She had a uniqe gift and animals sensed it. Judy and Pete ran a local fireworks stand that they called Pop and Grannies which they operated for 28 years. She was very active in family and community activities and was very well known and well loved. Arrangements were under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapel. Posted by Joy Neely
