Thomas Engard Montgomery was born January 30, 1928 in Philadelpha, PA, the son of Harry and Helen Hutchison Montgomery. He grew up and attended school in Philadelphia. Thomas served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was united in marriage with Rita Mae Thompson on April 29, 1950 in Philadelphia. She preceded him in death. A devoted husband and father, Thomas loved taking care of his family. He made his home in Brookshire and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pattison. He passed away Friday, January 27, 2006 in a Bellville nursing facility at the age of 77. He is survived by his children -- Thomas Montgomery and his wife, Johnnie Faye Smith, of Katy; Kevin Montgomery and his wife, Mary Chandler of Brookshire; Richard Montgomery, also of Brookshire; and Colleen LaRive and her husband, Doney, of Bellville; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren; and many other dear friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Final arrangements were under the direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, Bellville. Posted by Joy Neely
