Funeral servies for Johnnie G. Syptak, Jr., 62, of Nelsonville, were
conducted Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral
Chapel in Bellville, with the Rev. Vernon Griffin officiating. He died
Tuesday, May 30, 2006 in College Station.
Interment was in National Cemetery near Nelsonville.
Serving as pallbearers were Steve Friedrich, Colt Friedrich, Sam heritage,
Ryan Gilmore, Joe Chovanec and Frank Macat.
Born in Nelsonville, Johnnie was the son of Johnnie G. Sr. and Vlasta
Hermina (Macat) Syptak. He was raised in Nelsonville and graduated from
Bellville High School.
He was joined in marriage to the former Miss Shirley Gilmore with a ceremony
held at Nelsonville Brenthren Church in Nelsonville in 1975. He was a member
of the Bleiblerville Volunteer Fire Dpt. and West End Lions Club. Johnnie
retired from blue Bell Creamery in 1999.
He liked to mow lawns and collected guns, and he enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by his wife -- Shirley Syptak of Nelsonville; his mother --
Vlasta Syptak of Nelsonville; sons -- John and Scott, each of Nelsonville;
sister -- Delores "Kitty" Little of Houston; brother -- Delvin "D.J" Syptak
and wife Joyce of Nelsonville; brothers-in-law -- Everett Wright of
Columbus; and Dean Gilmore of Wharton; nieces and nephews -- Lisa Heritage,
Gaylynn Little, Jason Wright, Ryan Gilmore, Anthony Gilmore and Regina
Hughes.
He was preceded in death by his father -- Johnnie G. Syptak Sr; sister --
Judy Wright; nephew -- Ricky Syptak; sister-in-law -- Cheryl Gilmore; and
two infant sons.
The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Reese Lane
Pentecostal Church, PO Box 796, Columbus, TX, 78934.
Services were under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapels.
