GRADY KENNETH WOFFORD

Funeral Services for Grady Kenneth Wofford, 87, of Bellville were held at 11
a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2006 from the First Baptist Church of Bellville with
the Rev. Steve Olsen officiating.
Graveside Services were held at 4 p.m. at Pettytown Cemetery near Red Rock,
Texas. Serving as pallbearers were Don Bandelman, Harlin Fox, Loyd Wofford,
Jim Wofford, Ed Wofford and Ivan Kelso. Serving as honorary pallbearers were
Richard Walker, Carl and Kim Kelso, Ken Kelso, Shorty Wofford and Bobby
Edmonds.
Born in Houston, Grady was the son of Ance and Sarah (McCain) Wofford. He
was raised all over Texas and attended Pettytown Public School but finished
his education at the University of Texas.
On Feb. 19, 1938 Mr. Grady Wofford was joined in marriage to the former Miss
Odessa Walker with a ceremony held in McMann, Texas at the Preacher's Home.
He served his country during WW II in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Wofford was employed by Mobil Oil as a Lease Operator for 38 years. He
was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bellville where he served as
Deacon for 45 years, and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bellville.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, whittling, macrame, doing crafts and traveling.
Grady and Odessa traveled to Colorado, every year for 31 years.
Grady Kenneth Wofford passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at his home in
Bellville.
Survived by his wife Odessa Wofford of Bellville; brother Nolan Wofford and
wife Loma Joyce of Bellville; grandchildren, Laurie Chance and husband
Jerry, Mark and David Hurley; great grandchildren, Rachel and Michael
Chance, numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ance and Sarah Wofford, daughter Betty
Lynn Hurley, son David Wofford and brothers and sisters, Paul Wofford,
Clewis Wofford, Ed Wofford, Annie Kelso, Ollie Wofford, A.C. Wofford and
Gladys Wofford.
Services under the direction of Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville.
