Blezinger
Funeral services for Eldie Blezinger, 87, of New Ulm were held at 2 p.m.,
Sunday Nov. 11, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Bill
Mosley officiating.  Interment followed in the Pilgrimıs Rest Cemetery in
Industry.
Eldie Arthur Blezinger was born Feb. 16, 1920 in Industry the son of Fredric
and Johanna (Schultz) Blezinger. Eldie was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army
First Infantry Division (Big Red One) from 1940-45. Mr. Blezinger actively
fought in numerous campaigns in Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily and
Northern France. He participated in the Normandy Beach Invasion on D-Day. He
was also awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in action.
Mr. Blezinger left the Army and returned to Industry in 1945 after being
Honorably Discharged. He married Earline Luedeker Sept. 21, 1946 in New Ulm.
He was a farmer, rancher and painting contractor. He was a member of the
Shelby American Legion and St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
Eldie passed away Wednesday Nov. 7, 2007 at the Columbus Community Hospital
at the age of 87 years, 8 months, 21 days.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Herbert
Blezinger, Werner Blezinger, Norbert Blezinger, Manfred Blezinger; sisters,
Ora Blezinger, Ada Blezinger Meyer, Hertha Blezinger Peschel.
Survivors include: Son Stephen Boyd Blezinger and wife Linda; grandchildren,
Andrew Boyd Blezinger, Shelby Jayne Blezinger, Kasey Loren Blezinger all of
Sulphur Springs; sister Annie Lee Peschel of Industry.
Pallbearers for Mr. Blezinger were:  Dennis Peschel, Terry Giese, Scott
Blezinger, Jamie Marek, Mark Mewis and Russell Wait.
In lieu of usual remembrances memorials may be made to the First Infantry
Division Foundation, 1933 Morris Rd., Blue Bell, PA  19422 or the Arthritis
Foundation, P.O. Box 96280, Washington, DC  20077.
