Gordon lee Hatch, 73, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at his home.
He was born in Rio Hondo, Texas on Nov. 7, 1933 to the late Archie and Ruby
(Day) Hatch. The youngest of six children, he was preceded in death by his
brother Earl Hatch, sisters Leone Kipfer, Charlotte Arnette and Ruth Branch.
Gordon attended Texas State University in San Marcos, where he met and
married Rochelle Hodge on Dec. 28, 1957. He graduated in 1958 with a degree
in accounting.
Gordon and Rochelle lived in Houston for a few years before moving to
Pearland. They have made their home in the Bellville area since 1980.
During his career, Gordon worked for several oil and gas companies. He was
employed as an accountant for Texas Southeastern Gas, and was eventually
promoted to manager and Vice President. After leaving, he started his own
company, G&H Inspections, in the Austin area.
A faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville, Gordon served on
various committees including Church Council. He had also coached Little
League Baseball and was a Cub Scout Master while in Pearland. He enjoyed
hunting, fishing, camping, water skiing and gardening. And he loved to play
with his grandchildren.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rochelle Hatch of Bellville;
sons Craig Hatch of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Darryl Hatch of Round Rock;
his daughter Stacy Deanne Moltz and her husband, Robert, of Sealy; seven
grandchildren Juliana and Alicia Hatch of Colorado Springs, Cullen James,
Cody Lee, Kaitlyn and Kristen Hatch of Round Rock, and Micaiah Moltz of
Sealy; sister Dolores Modisett of Longmont, Colo.; father-in-law Tom Hodge
of Bellville and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Funeral service was 3 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2007 at St. John Lutheran
Church with pastor David Henske, Pastor Jennie Jones and Pastor Lynn Burling
officiating.
Interment followed in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Bellville. Serving as
pallbearers were Johnny Class, Kevin Class, Mike Eldred, Vernon Hatch, Keith
Eldred, Robert Moltz and Doug Hodges.
