Lidge P. Knesek, age 97 years, of  Victoria, Texas (formerly of Wallis)
passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2007  in Victoria, Texas.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 5, 2007 at 10 a.m. from Guardian
Angel Catholic Church in Wallis with the Rev. Richard Johnston, S.C.J.
celebrating the Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal.
Entombment was at Guardian Angel Mausoleum Cemetery in Wallis.
Pallbearers for the service were Larry Vitek, Stephen Vitek, Brian Vitek,
Mike Francese, Chuck Frederick and Dean Robey.
Lidge  was born on Oct. 10, 1910 in Hostyn, Texas near Schulenburg to
parents, R.R. and Cecelia Lidiak  Knesek.
Lidge was Baptized Ladislav the ³Patron Saint of Czechoslovakia² and at the
age of  2 years moved to Wallis where he was raised and attended Guardian
Angel Catholic school through the eighth grade.
His first job was a truck drive, he hauled bales of cotton, chickens, eggs
and various goods to the Port of Galveston.
In 1937 Lidge worked for Service Oil Company then he moved to San Antonio
and worked for Alamo Casket Company for five years. He then returned to
Wallis to help run the family businesses which were the Humble Service
Station, electrician, plumber and part owner of Knesek and Sons Funeral Home
in Wallis after receiving his Funeral Directorıs License.
Lidge married the former Miss Mary Saha on Oct. 29, 1934 in Frydek.
Along with his love for Mary he loved Polka music. He and Mary were members
of Guardian Angel Catholic Church for 77 years and he and his brother wired
the church for electricity which was built by their father,  R.R. Knesek in
1913.
Lidge and Mary  became members of Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria
after moving there in 1989 to be near their daughter and son-in-law.
He was a 1947 Charter member of  Knights of Columbus Council #3793 in Wallis
and a 68 year member of  KJT.
Lidge Knesek is survived by his daughter, Laureen E. Vitek and husband
Bennie of Victoria; brother R.J. Knesek and wife Beatrice of Wallis;
grandchildren Larry Vitek and wife Cheryl of Inez, Texas, Diane Francese and
husband Mike of Austin, Debbie Frederick and husband Chuck of Austin,
Stephen Vitek of Victoria, Brian Vitek of Bloomington and Vicki Robey and
husband Dean of Midland, and nine great grandchildren, Naylene Vitek  Felt
and husband Rob Felt, Travis Vitek, Renee' Francese, Claire Francese,
Michael Francese, Jr., Jacob Frederick, Ben Frederick, Jay Thomas and Kasey
Robey and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.R. and Cecelia Knesek, wife, Mary
Knesek, sister, Helen Jalowy and brother, Richard Knesek.
