GRACE RUTH PENNINGTON SULLIVAN

Grace Ruth Pennington Sullivan was born Feb. 27, 1922 in Miami, Texas. She
was the daughter of Porter and Rebecca Ruth Philpot Pennington.
She grew up and attended school in Miami, graduating from Miami High School.
After high school Grace continued her education by attending Waylon College
in Plainview, Texas and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort
Worth.
On Sept. 4, 1943 Grace was united in marriage with Avery J. Pennington. They
lived and served churches in Wildorado, Smyer, Floyd, Cumby, Roscoe,
Sweetwater, Rager, Houston, Brookshire before moving to Bellville in 1985
where they were members of the First Baptist Church.
Grace enjoyed painting, cooking, reading, mending, gardening and most of
all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Women's Missionary Union.
Grace Ruth passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007 at the age of 84.
She is survived by her sons Larry Sullivan and wife Linda of Mesa, Ariz. And
Paul Sullivan and wife Levy of Clear Lake; daughter Sherry Ruth McIllwain of
Greenville, Texas; grandchildren Aaron Sullivan of California, Faith,
Kristina and Dustin Sullivan of Houston, Megan Maradiago and her husband
Jonathon of California, Jacob Sullivan of Baytown, Noah Singleton of New
Your City and Alexa and Camilla Scott, both of Clear Lake; brother Roy
Pennington and his wife Jo of Dumas, Texas.
Grace is preceded in death by her parents, Porter and Rebecca Ruth
Pennington; husband Avery J. Sullivan; brother Johnny Pennington and sisters
Wanda Pennington Talley and Edna Pennington Moore.
Funeral service was 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007 from First Baptist Church
of Bellville with Mr. Paul Sullivan and the Rev. Steve Owen officiating.
Interment followed in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Bellville.
In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to
First Baptist Church Nursery, 504 E. Strauss, Bellville, Texas 77418.
Schmidt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
