Mary Ann (Spears) Adams was born Aug. 16, 1949, in Abilene to Rufus and Mary Louise (Smith) Spears. She attended school in Clyde, Texas where she was a fierce competitor on the basketball, volleyball and tennis courts.
After graduation, Mary Ann attended Ranger Junior College where she met Guinn, her husband of 37 years.
She graduated from Tarleton State University with a degree in Secondary Education.
Mary Ann and Guinn established their home in Ranger, Texas, and welcomed their first child, Scott, in 1975. Fifteen years later, they were blessed with daughter, Megan. Mary Ann dedicated 20 years to being a fulltime mother before she resumed her teaching career.
The Adams family moved to the Houston area in 1996 and settled in Bellville in 1999. Mary Ann taught English for both the Bellville and Sealy school districts where she loved her job and her students. She was an active member of the Bellville Church of Christ.
Mary Ann passed away Monday, Aug. 4, after a long illness that she faced with determination.
She rarely lost her sense of humor or wasted an opportunity to share the sharp wit of which her family and friends loved her.
She is survived by her husband and daughter, Megan, of the home, son Scott and daughter-in-law, Kelly, grandsons Hollis Jenkins and Harris Adams, of Houston. She is also survived by brother, Tommy Spears, of Glenpool, Okla. and brother, Billy Spears; sisters Jane Roberts and husband, Teddy, of Abilene; Frances Boyd and her husband, Bobby, of Belton, Texas; Becky Pence of Cisco, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by dear friends Dene Mangham of Bellville and Pat Greer of Ranger.
