Bellville Times
William T. “ Bill” Bogar died on Sept. 13, 2008.
Bill was the son of Paul and Mary Gavranovic Bogar, born in Frydek on Dec. 7, 1924. He was raised
in Frydek, and attended school in Frydek and Sealy.
Bill met Henrietta Rohan and they married April 22, 1946. They enjoyed 62 years together.
Raised three children Jacqualyn, Francis, and Marilyn.
Bill was inducted to serve his country in the US Army on July 26, 1943 as a Radio Operator and
translator of the Czech language. He earn a Victory ribbon, good conduct medal, 2 overseas service bars, and a campaign ribbon with 5 bronze stars, in battles in
Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
He was a returning serviceman honored by the Frydek community at the Grotto site. In the past
several years he was honored to talk to area students and groups when asked about his service experience including the Battle of Bulge and was appreciative of
their interest in this history.
Bill was an active member in his faith at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Bellville
and served in many of the church ministries.
His employment history included the Austin County Clerks office, Texas Southeastern Gas Company,
and The First National Bank of Bellville, from where he retired. In retirement he continued to meet the public, working part time for Austin County Farmers Mutual
Insurance Company of Industry.
He was a member and past president of Bellville Chamber of Commerce, Bellville Industrial
Foundation, Bellville General Hospital Foundation Board, Bellville Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society and was a very
interested Brahma Football fan.
Bill enjoyed spending time with people, his wife, his children, grand and great grandchildren, his
work associates, and complete strangers. He enjoyed fishing, dancing club, tinkering with wood products such as his boat, raising lemons and life in general.
He was preceded in death by parents, his wife Henrietta on July 17 and sister Mary Novicke on Sept.
1.
Bill is survived by his children: daughter, Jacqualyn Stewart and husband Michael of Bellville; son
Francis “Skip” Bogar and wife Mary of Pfugerville; daughter Marilyn Zaskoda and husband William of Bellville. grand and great grandchildren: Christopher Jolly
and wife Debbie and their children Brett, Benjamin and Abigail; Christine Innes, and her son Dustin; Brian Stewart and Tara Ward and their child Ava; Elizabeth
Hall and husband Jeremy and their children Shad and Marissa; Meredith Pappas and husband John, their child Miles. Eric Zaskoda and Suzanne Zaskoda, and his sister
Margie Kveton.
Visitation was held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. with a
rosary at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m., Sept. 17, 2008 from Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church followed by the interment at Oak Knoll
Cemetery. Father Tim Bucek officiating and assisted by Father Boli Zientek.
Knights of Columbus conducted the rosary and served as Honor Guard and Pallbearers for the funeral
service, Steven Pawelek, David Laskoskie, Alan Cloyd, Andy Felchak, Albert Sodolak, and Marvin Hintzel served as bearers.
Honorary bearers were Arleigh Pfeffer, Lloyd Feakes, Bubba Knolle, Dr. Welton Hill, Arthur Arning
Jr., Bill Lyth, and John Janicek. At the interment, a military detail from Bryan, Texas presented the flag of World War II Veteran and Don Allphin played taps. .Gifts in memory of Bill Bogar can be made to Sts.
