Edwin Bohne, 88, passed away Saturday morning, October 11, 2008 , in College Station , Texas after
a long illness. Services are set for Tuesday, October 14, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bellville. Interment will follow at
Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Bellville. Visitation will be Monday, October 13, from 5-7 p.m. at Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville.
Born November 8, 1919 , in Washington on the Brazos, Texas to Henry and Elsie Bohne, Edwin attended
Navasota schools and then served in the U.S. Army. During World War II Edwin spent four years in the European Theater under the command of General George S.
Patton. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the service, Edwin returned home to continue his education, earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees
from Sam Houston State University.
An educator for forty-three years, Edwin spent the last forty-one years of his career at Bellville
I.S.D. teaching 5th grade for thirty plus years and finishing as the elementary school principal.
Edwin married Lucille Richter on December 26, 1948 , at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham. The
couple then moved to Bellville in 1948, where they raised two sons, Henry and Bill. The Bohnes were active members of the Lutheran church and Edwin was a
devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He also was involved in the Little League, Quarterback Club and other community activities.
Edwin is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Lucille; son and daughter-in-law Henry and Beth
Bohne; son and daughter-in-law Bill and Janie Bohne; sister and brother-in-law Elsie and Leroy Boenker; sisters-in-law Clara Boesler, Lorine Hold and Amanda Hafer
and her husband Al; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edwin’s name may be sent to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes fund at the following address: Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Attn: Contributions, One Intrepid Square, West 46th Street and 12th Avenue, New York, New York 10036.
