Dernehl
Werner L. Dernehl, passed away April 25, 2008 at the age of 94. He was born in Bellville to Emil M. Dernehl and Mary Dierke Dernehl. Werner was one of
eight children who grew up on the family farm near Bellville. In 1936 Werner married Evelyn Earline Kersten and never remarried after her death in 1983.
Werner was a truck driver for Thortonburg Gravel Company from 1933 to 1965 at various locations in Texas. He also served as a rifleman in the 44th Armored
Infantry Battalion of the U.S. Army during World War II. From 1965 to 1976, Werner worked as a welder for Schindler Brothers Steel in Sealy. After his
retirement, he very much enjoyed fishing and vegetable and flower gardening.
Werner is preceded in death by his sister, Louise Tipp, and his six brothers, Louie, Edmond, Herbert, Martin, Wilbert, and Waco.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2008 at Knesek Funeral Chapel on 768 Fourth Street in Sealy. On Tuesday,
April 29, 2008, funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville.
