Gross
Wilfred Henry Gross was born August 27, 1933, in New Ulm, Texas, the son of Willy and Norma (Iselt) Gross. He grew up in New Ulm and Bellville, and attended school in Bellville, Henkhaus and Blinn College.
A Catholic by faith, Wilfred was united in marriage to the former Miss Doris Jean Suchadoll on November 26, 1953 in Frelsburg. After they married, he served his country in the United States Army from 1954 until 1956. They made their home in Brookshire before moving to Hempstead.
Wilfred was employed as a maintainer operator by the Texas Department of Transportation in Waller County for 42 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed tending his cattle at his land in Austin County.
Wilfred passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008, in Brenham at the age of 74. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years: Doris Jean Gross; son, Darrell Gross, Sr. and his wife Barbara of Hempstead; daughters, Janice McDonald of Hempstead and Sue Gross of Lake Jackson; grandchildren, Darrell Ray Gross, Jr., Keith McDonald and Michelle Kinison. He is also survived by his sister, Adeline Luedke; uncle, Romeo Islet and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and 3 sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents and step father, Walter Dahse.
Pallbearers are: Douglas Luedke, Bruce Luedke, Ronald Luedke, Royce Dudensing, Mike Iselt and Kirby Iselt. Honorary pallbearers are: Darrell Ray Gross, Jr., Victor Moeller, Ernie Richter, Robert Schulz, Wilfred Machinsky and Milbert Haedge.
Mass took place at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg, Texas with Father Wayne Flagg, celebrant.
Interment was at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery in Frelsburg, Texas.
