Peggy Jeannette Geyer Hicks, 75, died peacefully Oct. 8, 2008 in Greensboro, N.C., holding hands with loving family members.

A memorial service celebrating her life was held on Nov. 8 in Tybee Island, Ga.

Peggy was born in Huntington, W. Va. on April 16, 1933 to Ruth Rudolph Geyer and Edward Henry Geyer. She was an only child who became very close to her grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins during the dark days of the Great Depression.

After graduating from high school she worked in Washington, D.C. where she met her husband, Jim Clinton Hicks, a WWII veteran and civil engineer from Clinton, Okla.

They were married Sept.r 21, 1951, and had two daughters and one son.

Peggy was a talented homemaker, a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, and a gifted artist. She taught painting and quilting and started quilt guild chapters in Ohio and Texas. She had many passionate interests - reading, history, genealogy, fishing, camping, sewing, gardening, decorating, and antiques. Above all, she loved her family, her cats, and dear friends, who were like family to her.

Peggy lived in Bellville for many years and had many, many friends here.

She created lasting memories with the Bellville Quilt Guild, owning her own shop, and working at the Blacksmith Antique Shop and Nothing Ordinary Antiques. Her knowledge was vast and her creations beautiful.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband Jim Clinton Hicks. She is survived by 2 daughters, 1 son, and 3 grandchildren.
