Kahanek

Funeral services for Joe Kahanek, Jr., 81, will be held at 10 a.m. on  Friday, Sept. 5, 2008 at Knesek Bros. Highway 36 Chapel, 1140 Meyer St. in Sealy. 

Joe Kahanek, Jr., was born to Joseph and Frances (Jecmenek) Kahanek in Wallis. He was raised in Wallis and graduated from Wallis High School. He  joined the United States Army and served from 1945 - 1946.

On Jan. 18, 1953 he married Margaret Reznicek at Immaculate Conception Church in Sealy.

Throughout his life, Joe loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. 

He was an avid gardener and could fix anything. Dancing and celebrations were  a favorite past time and he and Margaret loved taking the buses to Louisiana  with all of their friends.

Joe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Kahanek; sisters, Lillian 

Boryle, Julia Kahanek, Ann Webb, Alice Magee, Francis Bartay, and Bessie Lee;  his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Debbie Kahanek; son-in-law, Gerald Doucet;  grandchildren, Jennifer Kirschner, Kasey Kahanek, Jeremy Doucet, and Gerald  Doucet, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Dane Kirschner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Francis Kahanek; infant son, 

Larry Wayne Kahanek; daughter, Virginia Doucet; and brothers, Bob and Henry  Kahanek.

Funeral Services were held under the direction of Knesek Bros. Funeral in Sealy.
