Lankford
Barbara Joan (Harvey) Lankford was born January 30, 1934, in Oxford, England, the daughter of Harold Dennis and Margaret Vera (Simms) Harvey. She grew up and attended schools in Oxford.
On April 25, 1955, Barbara was united in marriage to Bill Lankford in Oxford, England. In January, 1956, Bill and Barbara moved to the United States from England to begin their new lives in the states. Bill was in the armed services and Barbara worked as a Line Technician for General Motors in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was the treasurer for the United Auto Workers Union and was the chairperson for the GM United Way Committee. In 1997, Barbara moved to Sealy where she made her home for the past 11 years.
The love of her life was her family and spending time with them. Barbara enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and listening to music.
Barbara passed away at home in Sealy, Texas on June 1, 2008 at the age of 74. She is survived her children: Helen Dickson and her husband, Chuck, of Sealy, Barbara Bumgardner and her husband, David, of Sealy, Billie Lankford, Jr. of Rusk and Jennifer Lankford of Houston, Texas; grandchildren: Amanda Harden, Joanie Bumgardner, Tamara Gajewski, Sarah Bumgardner, Cody Dickson, Christy Dickson, Jacob Bumgardner and Jessica Lankford. Also, surviving Barbara are her great grandchildren: Arielle Bumgardner, Brianna Harden, Elizabeth Escobar, Christian Bumgardner, Alex Bumgardner, Jayden Bumgardner, Adisyn Wilcox, Charles Ondruch, Brittney Dickson, Page Stowell, Matthew Stowell, Ryan Stowell, and Sky Lankford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her parents, Harold and Margaret Harvey.
Memorial service was held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville with Pastor Gregg Young officiating.
