**GLORIA A WITTE LEWIS**
Bellville Times Lewis Gloria A. Witte Lewis, was born January 4,1937, in Brenham, Texas, the daughter of Arnold Charles Witte Sr., and Leona A. Vogelpohl. She grew up in Kingsville, Texas and graduated from H. M. King High School. After high school, Gloria received her Associates Degree from Texas A&I University, then continued her education in Long Beach, CA, to receive a degree in nursing. Gloria utilized her nursing degree in the Corpus Christi area for more than 40 years. She retired in 1997. Gloria was united in marriage to Mr. Virgil Lewis on May 31, 1958, in Kingsville, Texas. They made their home in Corpus Christi after Virgil was honorably discharged from the Navy. She enjoyed playing slot machines in Las Vegas, and was very successful at it. She also enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid bowler. Gloria was responsible for teaching her nieces and nephews the skill of fishing. Gloria passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2008, in a nursing facility in Corpus Christi at the age of 71. Survivors are, SON: Jerry Lewis from Corpus Christi, TX; BROTHERS: Arnold Witte and his wife, Billie Jean, of Houston, TX; David Witte and his wife, Lee, of Katy, TX. Also surviving are, three nieces and one nephew, very dear friends Nancy and Chuck Illig and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; a son, Gary Lewis; and her parents. Friends may call from 10 A.M.– 2 P.M. on Sunday, December 7, 2008, at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville, TX. Funeral Service will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, December 7, 2008, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor David Henske, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Knoll Cemetery. Pallbearers: Scott Witte, Michael Goff, Donald Witte, Gus Hilligeist, Douglas Hilligeist and Jerry Ondrias. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Charity of their choice.
