Mauntel
Evelyn Meinecke Mauntel passed away Dec. 19, 2007 in Conroe, Texas. Burial
was in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville on Dec. 21.
Evelyn Emma (Mutch) Mauntel born Jan. 29, 1921, in Burleigh to Fred and
Martha Krueger Meinecke. She was the granddaughter of J.F. and Dora Eber
Meinecke and J.F. and Emma Mardaus Krueger.
Evelyn attended school in Roach Prairie (Klossıs) School through the eighth
grade and then went to school in town for the ninth grade.
Evelyn worked for Stantonıs Grocery in Alvin, Texas in the mid 1940s where
she met and married Ralph E. Mauntel, June 12, 1945. Ralph was in the army
and stationed at Camp Wallace, which was outside Alvin.
Evelyn and Ralph made their home in Ohio for 37 years before returning to
Texas in 1978 to share a home with her sister Myrtle Stravoski.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, sister and brother-in-law.
Evelyn has connections to many of the old families in the Bellville-Burleigh
area.
She is survived by her nieces, Imogene Storrs, Martha Ann Parker, Barbara
Sue Casey as well as their children and grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Evelyn was a big part of all their lives.
