Mehner
Funeral services for Dessie Mae Mehner, 89, of Houston were held Tuesday,
Jan. 8, 2008 at 2 p.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul
Mathre, officiating. Burial was in National Cemetery, Nelsonville.
Dessie was born in New Ulm,  the daughter of Ernst and Hertha (Andreas)
Mehner. She grew up on a farm in Austin County and attended schools in
Bleiblerville.
In 1943, she left and went to work in Houston. She worked several jobs
before enrolling in the 20th Century Business School. After leaving school
she went to work for Wilson Industries, Inc., on April 22, 1953 and retired
on May 18, 1984 with 31 years of service.
Dessie was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Houston. She was
a member of the Mary Circle and did volunteer work for her church.
Dessie is survived by her nieces, Karen Lind, and husband Michael of Katy,
Kimberly Linn of Houston, Earline Jeanette Boecker, and husband Burney of
Brenham, nephew Joseph L. Siptak, and wife Susan of Bay City, 10 great
nieces and nephews and two great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernst and Hertha Mehner, sisters,
Hilda Siptak, Josie Krause and Bernice Hoff.
Services under the direction of Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville.
