Funeral Services for Myrtle Mae Melcer, 79 of Brenham will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Zaskoda
Chapel in Industry with Pastor Butch Strickland, officiating. Burial will follow in New Ulm Cemetery.
Myrtle Bastian Case Melcer was born May 18, 1929 in New Ulm, the daughter of Otto and Anna Bastian.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm and married Robert Case soon after moving to Houston.
She resided in Houston until her retirement from Gordon Jewelers and later moved to the Brenham
area. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Brenham and frequently attended activities at the Senior Citizen Center. Myrtle especially
loved going to local bar-b-ques and dances as well as spending holidays and birthdays with her family.
Mrs. Melcer passed away peacefully in her home December 3, 2008 at the age of 79.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Anna Bastian, sister, Geraldine Kulow, daughter,
Phyllis Case, and her first husband, Robert Case.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Stelwagen and husband Steven of Brenham; son, John Case and
wife Cindy of Katy; granddaughters, Kristen Stelwagen, Kalyn Stelwagen, Kendall Stelwagen, Kelsey Stelwagen, Lisa Case, and Debra Case; brother, Jesse Bastian of
Bellville, sister, Nora Lee Martin and husband Clarence of Brenham; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: John Case, Steven Stelwagen, Jerome Peters, Curtis Kulow, Daryl Kulow, and Bradley
Kulow.
Honorary Pallbearers: Jesse Bastian, LeRoy Kulow, and Clarence Martin.
