Alma (Schiller) Mewis,  87, of Bellville, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 in Bellville.
Alma was born to Frank Edward Schiller and Louise Rose (Janecek) Schiller on Dec. 25, 1920 in Sealy. She was raised and attended school in Sealy.She married Leon Mewis on Nov. 18, 1942 in Reno, Nev.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Sealy.  Alma passed away on March 27, 2008 in Bellville.
Alma is survived by her son, John Arthur Mewis of Bellville; three sisters-in-law, Flora Winn, Katie Huebner and Mary Mewis, all of Bellville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Edward Schiller and Louise Rose (Janecek) Schiller; husband, Leon Mewis; sisters, Ruby Beathard and Aldine Schneider; brothers, Edmond Schiller, Dennis Schiller and Aldon Schiller.  
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 4 p.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Tom Wessman, officiating.  Interment was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Glen Toman, Dale Toman, Allen Toman, Julius (Bubba) Toman, Mark Schiller, Larry Schneider and Tracy Schiller.
