Ethel Sebesta Mikeska passed away peacefully on April 20, 2008 at the age of 90 years. She was born to Frank and Albina Janecek Sebesta, the youngest of 5
children. The world was opened to her when she started school and learned to read. She was an avid reader all her life. She graduated from Bellville High School
as valedictorian. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from the University of Texas and her Masters Degree from the University of Houston. She
taught school for forty five years. She was a member of Texas State Teachers Association; Texas retired Teachers Association, Alpha Lambda Delta Honorary
Fraternity and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She was an active member of the Nelsonville Brethren Church.
For many years she was the church organist, she sang in the choir, served on the Board of Elders for several years and was a Sunday school teacher for over 50
years. Her parents, Frank and Albina Sebesta and four brothers, Frank, Jerry, Emil and Arthur Sebesta preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 59
years, Nelson Mikeska, Sr. and two sons, Nelson F. Mikeska, Jr. and wife Mary of Georgetown, TX and Lawrence Mikeska of Shelby, surviving also are two beloved
grandsons, Neil Mikeska and Dianne of New Orleans and Andrew Mikeska of Georgetown, also several sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law survive as well as several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 23, 2008, Nelsonville Brethren Church with Rev. Michael Groseclose officiating. Interment was at National
Cemetery in Nelsonville. Serving as pallbearers were nephews, Leon Sebesta, Frank Sebesta, Jr., James D. Sebesta, David Sebesta, John William Boelsche and Joe
Edward Sebesta. Honorary pallbearers were Neil Mikeska and Andrew Mikeska.
Kneseke Family Funeral Chapels was in charge of arrangements.
