Howard Chester Minyard, 79, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 in Houston at the Houston Hospice. He was born on July 14, 1928 in Decatur, Texas to Chester and Merle Minyard. He grew up in Corsicana graduating from Corsicana High School in 1945. He earned a Bachelors Degree from Texas A&M in 1950 and was a member of the Corps of Cadets. Following graduation he joined the United States Army where he served as an artillery officer. His service included a deployment to West Germany during the Cold War. Following his Army Service, Howard joined the Mobile Pipe Line Company in 1953. In his 31 year career with Mobile, Howard rose the ranks and completed his service at the Mobile headquarters in Dallas. A highlight of his career was his participation in the opening of the Alaskan Pipeline. On March 15, 1953 Howard married Inez Marie Scott and they were blessed with four sons. Howard was a very unselfish man and was never known to complain. Howard was an avid reader and was very knowledgable of the world and its affairs especially the energy industry. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Merle Minyard. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Inez Minyard, sons and their wives, Scott and Debbie, J.R. and Vicki, Bill and Karen and Tom and Michelle, grandchildren ,Chris Petty, Melissa, Kelsey, Jessa, Jake, Chris, Tommie and Colton. Visitation was held at the Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel, 768 4th St., Sealy, Texas 77474 (979)885-3535 on Monday, Feb. 18, 2008. Graveside Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, 10:00 am, Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
