Earla Leonora Walton Reed, 94, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother passed away peacefully, January 11, 2008 in Bellville.
Earla was born April 19, 1913, in Burnet, Texas to Richard Tim Walton and
Mary Bell Burnes. She was raised in Bellville, Texas and graduated from
Bellville High School. Earla devoted her life to being a loving wife,
mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friends to all she
met.
Earla married Jeffrey John Reed in 1931. They were married fifty-three years
and raised two daughters while Jeffrey worked for Humble Oil and Refining
(Exxon) throughout southeast Texas. They retired to Bellville in 1963.
A lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church, Earla had been
active for 86 of her 94 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by her daughters: Diana Bufkin and her husband, Ralph, of
Bellville, and Timmie Critendon and her husband, Bobbie, of Austin,
grandchildren: Cathy Bufkin, Jeff Bufkin and his wife, Judi, Chris Bufkin
and his wife Theresa, Kevin Critendon and his wife, Pam, Timothy Critendon
and Reed Critendon; greatgrandchildren: Aaron Powell, Brittney Bufkin, Tyler
Bufkin, Meagan Bufkin, Amber Bufkin, Emilie Bufkin, Taylor Critendon, Austin
Critendon, Craig Critendon and William Critendon, as well as many other
relatives and friends.
She will be missed by all.
The Family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Rose Hill
Retirement Home and Hospice Brazos Valley for their kind and loving care,
and a special thanks to her loving caregiver, Jennifer Matthews.
The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008 at
Bellville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Stutes, officiating.
Interment was at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville.
Pallbearers were Jeff Bufkin, Chris Bufkin, Timothy Critendon, Reed
Critendon, Kevin Critendon, and Aaron Powell.
