Reid
Nancy May (Hancock) Reid was born April 10, 1915, in Robertson County, Texas, the daughter of
Stillman and Loudie (Bishop) Hancock. She grew up in Bishopville and attended school in Hearne.
A Methodist by faith, Nancy was united in marriage to Howard Reid. Nancy and Howard made their home
in Conroe, Raccoon Bend, and Bellville.
Nancy was a member of the Bellville Garden Club and the Bellville United Methodist Church. She
loved cooking, especially chicken and dumplings. She also enjoyed raising parakeets and cockatiels, sewing and doing needlework, gardening and her flowers.
Nancy passed away Friday, July 11, 2008, at the age of 93 in Brenham. She is survived by her
children Glinda Jordan of Bellville, David Reid and his wife, Hazel, of Mico, Texas, and Alan Reid and his wife, Linda, of Brenham. She is also survived by her
grandchildren Rhonda and Michael Meili, Michael and Priscila Reid, Timothy Reid, Kimberly Fulenwider, Kelly and David Creekmore, Kacey Wernli, Ricky Kocurek,
Vickie Kocurek, Shannon and Larry Gregory, Melonie and Kenneth Hirsch and Darrell Jordan. Great Grandchildren M.J. Nicholas and Nathan Meili, Caroline and
Catherine Reid, Morgan Fulenwider, Peyton and Preslie Creekmore, Jackson Wernli, Heath and Jarred Kocurek, Kristen and Scott Smith, Caleb Mitchell, Kaitlyn
Gregory, Brandon and Baileigh Hirsch. Great grandchild Hudson Reid Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3
brothers and 7 sisters.
Pallbearers are: Michael Reid, Timothy Reid, Ricky Kocurek, Kenneth Hirsch, Brandon Hirsch and
Larry Gregory.
The funeral service took place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Bellville United
Methodist Church with Reverend Jennifer Jackson officiating. Interment was at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Bellville, Texas.
