**VERA MAE CHRISTINA GOEKE REMMERT**
Bellville Times Remmert Vera Mae Christina Goeke was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Welcome to Emanuel and Clara Wesatzke Goeke. She spent her youth in Germania and was baptized March 28, 1920, and confirmed April 9, 1933, in the Lutheran religion. On Nov. 20, 1938, Vera Mae was united in marriage to Dennis Earl Remmert in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy. They made their home in Bellville and have remained life long residents. Vera Mae, along with husband, Dennis, was avid in serving the Lord. She taught Sunday school for 25 years, served as a church youth counselor for 15 years, worked in the kitchen with the Church Annual Barbeque for 20 plus years, attending Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy regularly, and worked in The Good Samaritan Shop in Sealy for 24½ years. Vera Mae was a grand homemaker and her hobbies included sewing for her family, crocheting, knitting and other handwork, tending to her many flowerbeds, cooking and baking, and fishing whenever and wherever with Dennis. She and Dennis enjoyed visiting people at the nursing homes. Her love for her big family was truly amazing and evident for all to see. Together, she and Dennis had 6 children; 5 daughters and 1 son. They proudly have 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Vera Mae Remmert passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, in Bellville. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Dennis of Bellville; daughters, Kathleen Slovak and her husband, Sonny, of Bellville, Betty Thomas and her husband, Perry, of Brenham, Judy Robertson and her husband, Ronnie, of Bellville, Nancy Krueger and her husband, Gary, of Bellville, and Christine Pieper and her husband, Jerry, of Brenham; sister, Evelyn Nehrkorn of Bellville. Grandchildren include Valerie Babin and her husband, David, Buddy Slovak and his wife, Christine, Melanie Wesolick, Danny Slovak, Mae Hintzel and her husband, Mike, Vicki Swonke and her husband, Gene, Shannon Thomas and his wife, Anne, Steven Robertson and his wife, Shannon, Craig Robertson and his wife, Jeannie, Todd Krueger and his wife, Brandi, Christopher Krueger and his special friend, Anna, Mandy Pieper and her special friend Steven, and Shawna Pieper. Great-grandchildren include Kayleigh, Stephen and Allayne Babin, Regan Slovak, Logan, Jordan, and Caitlin Slovak, Cody Wesolick, Dakota and Dawnielle Slovak, Travis and David Hintzel, Kayla, Kelsey, Kendall and Kolton Swonke, James Thomas, Lane Robertson, Austin, Lorin and Gracie Robertson, and Kerby Krueger. Great-great grandchild, Perry Hintzel. Vera Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Rogers and Delphine Goeke, and her son, Earl Ray Remmert. Pallbearers were Steven Robertson, Craig Robertson, Todd Krueger, Chris Krueger, Shannon Thomas and David Babin. Funeral service was 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville with Pastor Jennie Jones and Pastor Dale Leland, officiating Interment was in Oak Knoll Cemetery.
